Nadia is a visionary force for racial justice eager to build economic power for communities through housing, transportation, climate and education justice.

Author to a Kids Book About Being Muslim and daughter to immigrant parents from India and Pakistan, Nadia’s lived experiences as an Indian-Pakistani Muslim American, former public school teacher and mother ground her desire to build a brighter, better future for the community.

She is the first Muslim to serve on a city council in the state of Oregon. She brings extensive experience working in marketing, human resources and diversity, equity and inclusion at Fortune 100 companies like Nike and Kroger. When she is not politicking, teaching or consulting on people strategy, you will find her at a park with her kids or paddle boarding in the Tualatin River.

Professional Expertise in Human Resources, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Racial Justice, Activism and Campaign Strategy, Nadia speaks about issues like:

  • Whether it’s about building inclusive workplaces, looking at talent acquisition strategy, building an internship program or leveraging data to lead conversations about diversity, equity and inclusion, Nadia understands deeply how HR can uphold oppressive systems and provides insightful ways to dismantle those systems in your organization.

  • From running her own campaign to providing counsel to elected officials, Nadia leverages her marketing and people expertise to talk about campaigning and running for office in local elections.

  • As the first Muslim elected city councilor in Oregon, Nadia understands the diverse Muslim community and has led pathways of inclusion such as introducing the first proclamation for Muslim American Heritage Month and convening community organizations to hold the first Eid festival in partnership with THPRD

  • As a former public school teacher, Nadia saw first-hand the ways kids are left behind in the classroom. She knows deeply why housing, transportation and economic justice are critical to building a brighter, better future for the community.

  • Grounded in her lived experiences as an outsider, Nadia finds healing in helping others find their voice and take space.
